William E. Martin, Jr

William Edward "Junior" Martin, Jr., 77, of Marion, KY passed away April 16, 2025 at Baptist Health Paducah. He was a member of Piney Fork Cumberland Presbyterian Church and retired from the Kentucky National Guard.Junior never met a stranger. Whether in the grocery store, at the gas station or in a restaurant, he had a gift for turning a simple hello into a heartfelt conversation. He remembered everyone's name, everyone's story, and somehow knew everyone's family-often better than they knew themselves. His joy was found in people and his legacy will live on in the countless lives he touched. 

Survivors include his children, Tammy (Brett) Owen of Marion, KY and Scott Martin of Salem, KY; stepson, Josh (Amber) Jackson of Irvington, KY; grandchildren, Mariah, Aaron, Chris, Jamie, Finn, Jack and Natalie, great grandchildren, Carter, Ellie, Anna Kate, Jemma, Molly and Brooklynn and sister, Phyllis Dority.

He was preceded in death by his parents, William Edward and Mary Jane Martin.

Services are scheduled for 2 PM Monday April 21, 2025 at Gilbert Funeral Home in Marion, KY with interment in Mapleview Cemetery. The family will receive visitors from 11 AM until service time Monday at the funeral home.

Military Rites will be given at the cemetery on Monday.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Piney Fork Cemetery, c/o Sara Ford, 220 S. Weldon St., Marion, KY 42064.
