Steve Jones, 75, of Marion, KY passed away July 26, 2026 at Livingston County Hospital. He was born in Marion, KY on December 9, 1950. He married Linda Crider in September 1969. Together they had two children: Kristi and Matt. He most recently attended Marion First Cumberland Presbyterian Church. Growing up, his father was a Cumberland Presbyterian Minister and he attended several churches with his family throughout his life including Mt. Gilead in Greenville, Illinois and Grace Church in Lincoln Park, Michigan.
Steve was an entrepreneur from an early age and could always be counted on to come up with great ideas and to see them through. In his early married days he served as a police officer in Taylor, Michigan. In Kentucky, he started several successful
ventures, too many to list. He loved being a car dealer. He started and ran a commercial metal fabrication business. He was a very talented auctioneer. Most recently he ran Jones Auto Sales and Salvage with his son Matt and started StuffBrokers Pawn.
He loved anything with wheels and a motor and was an avid car and motorcycle enthusiast. Most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his family.
Survivors include his daughter, Kristi (Dru) Tischer of Shawnee, OK; grandson, Hayden; brother, Ed; brother in law Pete; and several nieces, nephews, and other extended family and close friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Linda Jones; son, Matthew James Jones; parents, Rev. James Houston and Elizabeth Jones; brother and sister-in-law, Don (Bonnie) Jones; sister, Faye Atwell and nephew, Jason Jones.
Services are scheduled for 1 PM Saturday August 1, 2026 at Gilbert Funeral Home in Marion, KY with interment in Mapleview Cemetery. The family will receive visitors from 11 AM until service time at the funeral home.
