Michael Wayne Little

Michael Wayne Little, 60, of Shawneetown, IL, formerly of Marion, KY passed away unexpectedly October 24, 2025 at Deaconess Healthcare of Marion, IL. Michael was born April 13, 1965 in Marion, KY to Bernal "Little Jack" and Linda Little. He joined the United States Army straight out of high school in 1983 and continued in his service until retirement in 2009.Since the birth of his youngest grandchild he has resided in Shawneetown with his daughter. He loved watching them grow and couldn't wait to see what was in store for them. His time in the service made him proud, but nothing could compare to being a father and "Papaw". Survivors include his daughter, Ashley (Dakota) Barnes of Shawneetown, IL; grandchildren, Kelton, Harper and Alex of Shawneetown, IL; sister, Belinda K. Nall Madisonville, KY; brother, Kevin Little of South Carolina and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, Bernal Dalfred and Linda Lou Little and several brothers in uniform. What a reunion that must be. Services are scheduled for 1 PM Wednesday October 29, 2025 at Gilbert Funeral Home in Marion, KY with visitation scheduled from 11 AM until service time. Inurnment will be held at the West Kentucky Veterans Cemetery in Hopkinsville, KY on Monday November 3, 2025.Donations may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project.
