Kenneth Ray Murray

Kenneth Ray Murray, age 78, of Marion, passed away on Wednesday, May 6, 2026, at Southgate Nursing and Rehabilitation in Metropolis, IL.

Kenneth proudly served his nation in the U.S. Army overseas as an MP for many years. He enjoyed fishing, cooking and hunting ginseng. He was known locally as the "nut man", going around the area and picking up walnuts.

Survivors include his daughters, Rebecca Murray and Melinda (Brian) Thompson; sons, Kenneth Guenther, Leslie Guenther, Kenneth Ray Murray II (Laura); step- daughter, Lorilae Day; brother, Richard Murray; sister Virgina Pepler; several grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Kenneth is preceded in death by his parents, Rev. Azel and Mae Lynn Murray; son, Shawn Guenther; brothers, R.L. Murray and Vestel Murray; sisters, Rose Moxley and Ester Garrett; significant other, Darlene Kimbler.

Visitation for Kenneth Murray will be held on Monday, May 11, 2026, from 11:00 AM till 1:00 PM at Gilbert Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, May 11, 2026, at 1:00 PM with Bro. Gary Murray officiating. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery in Crittenden County.
