JEANETTE MARGARET PHILLIPS

Jeanette Margaret Phillips, 77, of Marion, KY passed away August 17, 2026 at Livingston Hospital. She was a member of St. William's Catholic Church in Marion, KY where she assisted in establishing St. William's Cemetery.

Jeanette earned both her Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education and Master's Degree in Administration/Supervision from Murray State University. Her love of teaching began at Tolu Elementary School and over a span of 18 years included Crittenden County Elementary School and Crittenden County Middle School and The Even Start program where she taught many adults parenting/life skills and helped them achieve their GED. She also served as a Distinguished Educator for the State of Kentucky for many years and then ended her career as Principal of Broadway Elementary School.

Jeanette also enjoyed and loved teaching Confraternity of Christian Doctrine at St. William's Catholic Church. This above all was one of her great joys and passions.

Survivors include her husband, Donnie Phillips of Marion, KY; son, Donnie Morgan (Kara) Phillips of Marion, KY; daughter, Laura (Mark) Hatcher of Louisville, KY; grandchildren, Brenden Phillips and Chris, Nick and Drew Hatcher; great granddaughter, Penelope Rae Phillips; sister, Patsy Clausen and brother, Jimmy Mathieu.

She was preceded in death by her parents, James Joseph and Betty Mathieu and sister, Mary Sorrisso.

Services are scheduled for 11 AM Saturday August 22, 2026 at St. Williams Catholic Church in Marion, KY with interment in St. William's Cemetery. The family will receive visitors from 5-8 PM Friday August 21, 2026 at St. William's Church.
