James Patrick “Pat” Jamison, 86, of Marion, Kentucky, formerly of Beardstown, Illinois, passed away on October 10, 2025, at Crittenden Health and Rehabilitation.
Pat was born on St. Patrick's Day, March 17, 1939 in Beardstown. The son of the late Frank Arthur and Frances Louise Bowman Jamison. Pat graduated from Beardstown High School in 1957. After graduation Pat began his life-long career of working on the inland waterways. Pat also served in the U.S. Army for two years before returning to the river. Up until a few years ago, Pat was still actively working on the river as an accomplished pilot. Pat was well known for his catfish ponds and honey bees, where he had delicious fish and honey that he shared with his family.
In addition to his parents, Pat is preceded in death by his wife, Opal Naomi "Honey" Jamison; brother, Gene Jamison; sisters, Mary Francis Jamison, Francis Jamison Burns, Peggy Jamison Ross and sister-in-law Jean Jamison.
Survivors include his brothers, Larry Jamison (Sue), David Jamison, Tom “Jud” Jamison (Meredith); sister Nancy Beck (Paul); stepchildren, Betty Cruce, Danny (Barbara) Browning, Linda Edwards, Janie (Rick) York; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
Visitation for Pat Jamison will be held on Sunday, October, 19, 2025 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at Gilbert Funeral Home.
Funeral services will follow at 1:00 PM at Gilbert Funeral Home with Bro. David LeNeave officiating. Burial will follow in Mapleview Cemetery.
