Bonnie Sue Nation

Bonnie Nation, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully at 1:15 a.m. at Salem Springlake Health and Rehab Center at the age of 84, following a courageous and long health battle.

Born on December 8, 1941 in Cave-in-Rock, Illinois, Bonnie dedicated her life to her family, work, and the Lord with unwavering devotion. Christianity was the absolute cornerstone of her life, guiding her daily walk with grace, humility, and love. As a faithful, longtime member of Tolu Methodist Church, her quiet strength and deep faith served as a beacon of light to her congregation and community.

For 66 wonderful years, she was married to the love of her life, Harry Nation. Together, they built a home rooted in steadfast love, partnership, and shared values, setting an extraordinary example of commitment for generations to come.

Beyond her home, Bonnie was a model of dedication in her professional career, working for 52 proud years between Potter & Brumfield, Invensys and Siemens. Her fierce work ethic, loyalty, and dependability made her a deeply respected colleague and cherished friend throughout her more than five decades of service.

Above all, Bonnie’s heart belonged to her family. She adored her grandchildren, Adam and Jaycie, and took endless pride in being their Mimi. As they were growing up, she made sure to be their biggest cheerleader, rarely missing a single game, performance, or activity. She treasured family vacations to the mountains and beaches, creating unforgettable memories with them.

Survivors include her husband, Harry Nation of Marion, KY; daughter, Tonya (Eddie) Driver of Marion, KY; grandchildren, Adam Driver of Marion, KY and Jaycie (Colton) Fox of Bowling Green, KY; bonus granddaughter, Stephanie Driver of South Carolina and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Orville and Bessie Burklow Pennell; siblings, Hansel “Red” Pennell, Larry Pennell and Mary Katherine Hindall and her baby granddaughter, Laken Driver.

Services are scheduled for 2 PM Tuesday, August 11, 2026 at Gilbert Funeral Home in Marion, KY with interment in Deer Creek Cemetery. The family will receive visitors from 5-8 PM Monday, August 10, 2026 and from 9 AM until service time Tuesday at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Bonnie’s name to the Crittenden County Vince Clark Rocket Foundation.

Her family extends their deepest gratitude to the staff at Livingston Hospital and Salem Springlake Health and Rehab Center for their compassionate care throughout her journey. Bonnie's legacy of faith, hard work, and deep love for her family will live on forever in the hearts of those who loved her.
