Vera Mae Shockley, 75, of Rosiclare, IL, passed away on Sunday December 4, 2016 at Hardin County General Hospital. She was born on June 28, 1941 in Houston, Texas to Joseph Ritmanich and Gladys Geneva (Brown) Ritmanich. She was a member of Rosiclare Apostolic Church. Mrs. Shockley is survived by her loving husband and caregiver of almost 45 years: Loy Shockley of Rosiclare; Daughter: Sheryl and Tim Williams; Son: Steven “Steve” and Kathy Shockley; Son: Shawn Loy and Trina Shockley; Grand Daughter: Mandy and Justin Kordsmeier; Grand Son: Michael Williams; Grand Son: Mitchell Williams; Grand Son: Loy Garrett Shockley; Grand Daughter: Laura Holloway; Grand Daughter: Tracy Holloway; Great Grand Daughters: Maybry and Macie Kordsmeier; Sister: JoAnne Baer; and Brother: Carl Ritmanich. She was preceded in death by her Parents: Joseph and Gladys Ritmanich; Son: Ronald “Ronnie” Holloway; Grand Daughter: Crystal Holloway. Vera was known for her joyful heart and caring nature. She was a fulltime homemaker her entire marriage. She found great pleasure in putting other first. Vera could always talk about her family, anytime, and anywhere. She never knew a stranger. Although Vera lived a frugal life and really did not concern herself with material things, she loved her lipstick and “Beautiful” perfume, a gift her daughter always made sure she had. She was a fantastic cook and enjoyed sharing her talent with others. Receiving a pie or cake baked by Vera was a real treat. Hardin County Funeral Services, Cox Funeral Home, is in charge of arrangements. As per family wishes, Mrs. Shockley will be cremated. A celebration of Vera’s life will be held at a later date with family and friends.
