Gary D Brookmyer

May 25, 1937 - October 20, 2018

Gary D Brookmyer, 81, of Herrin, Formerly of Hardin County, passed away Saturday October 20, 2018 in Deaconess Midtown Hospital in Evansville. He had been in ill health for several years. An avid lover of flea markets, a part-time tinker, piddler and generous gift giver. He never met a stranger or passed up a chance to help others. He adored all his family, most especially his granddaughter Camryn. He was born May 25, 1937 in Hardin County to Radford and Ada Page Brookmyer. He married Gail Derringer Brookmyer on November 19, 1955. Gary is survived by a daughter Kim Raneses of Seattle, Washington; son Sam Brookmyer of Herrin, Illinois; granddaughter Camryn Brookmyer of Carterville, Illinois and sister Lois (Charles) Boyd of Marion, Illinois. He was preceded in death by his wife Gail Brookmyer; parents Radford and Ada; 6 brothers, three who died in infancy, Arnold, Dwayne, Glen, Gordon, Gene, and Galen; two sisters Glendora Falkiewicz and Rowena Simmons. Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday October 25, 2018 at Hardin County Funeral Service (Cox Chapel) in Rosiclare, Illinois with Rev. Deon Dutton officiating. Visitation will be from 11:00 am-1:00 pm Thursday at funeral home. Burial will be at Cave Hill Cemetery.
